This thermostat works in serie between the source and appliance that you want controlled. Both to control a 3x20 seed starter mat for her sourdough starter.
Just look at the screenshots for the rest of my setup. Installation is very simple with the application. Lots of configuration options and integrations with other services.

The wires are thick and overall it feels pretty sturdy and durable.
The quality of materials is very good.
Alarm condition turns off power to heating source.
Many iot devlice apps are terrible for voiceover or barely usable at best.
Price
It’s been flawless for that and does exactly what i need at a great price.
This makes the item worth double the $20 units because it won't damage your freezer.
Has some issue, but not that detract from what it offers at this price.
Competitiveness
With homekit operation is easy as any tstat there.
I bought this to replace a similar product from bn-link that failed after a few months use.
Be cautious with other brands, as their amp rating is sometimes 10-13 amps.
I also though setting things like temp differential and compressor delay were easier with this than the inkbird.

It’s a little confusing to control the temperature directly from the unit like you would a traditional wall thermostat

I put in a guest room to run a heater and unfortunately guests really can’t operate it directly
