Pros & Cons
Pros
Merrells combine a hard polymer with a softer polymer to create better grip on rocks. Only weak spot are those compound lug soles. These breathe really well, look cool, are super comfortable, and offer good ankle support.
Cons
Cheap junk in my opinion. Fake comes to mind. No extreme or significant activity to justify the failure.
The msrp of the boots are 25 to 30 percent higher than you would pay in the store. Poor product from a respected company.
These boots are not waterproof or even water resistant. Both toe caps started separating from the boot after 4 hikes. This latest pair has a seam right at the ankle that is so stiff it cuts into my ankle.
This last pair are also loose in the width. Broke one of the eyes on second day of wearing.

Fits true to size and very comfortable.
I treated them a little rougher because i was disappointed with the color & fit.
Price
Oh yeah, and they are a great price!
Packaging/appearance
Fit was true-to-size and just right straight out of the box.
Competitiveness
) since they've handled the abuse so nicely, i would certainly consider buying this boot again.

At some point the outside parts of the soles delaminate come loose and not much later the profile is usually reduced enough to make the boots unsafe on rocks
