Pros & Cons
Pros
Since i’ve worn moab lowcuts exclusively for 8 years, they fit perfectly. Comfort is exceptional. Arch support is excellent, and that's important to me.
Hard polymer with a softer polymer to create better grip on rocks. They are waterproof - mostly. Water resistant is all i need, because if i accidentally step in a puddle, i usually have the good sense to jump right out.
The only weak spot are those compound lug soles. But it's a lightweight, robust shoe that is great for hiking. These boots are heavier than the sneaker style shoe, but out in the wild you'll appreciate dry feet and excellent ankle protection.
Merrell hiking boots by far are the best and worth every cent. Zero complaints about this excellent boot. Very satisfied and highly recommended.
Cons
These are advertised and water proof. The right foot leaks around the sole area on the outside. This latest pair has a seam right at the ankle that is so stiff it cuts into my ankle. The shoe was delivered may 24th.
The shoelace grommet holes at the top of the boot break after minimal use. The thread either broke or the thread never had the bobbin thread overlock. There were no mechanical rivets or other connectors to prevent this.
Highlights
Quality
The boots are very comfortable and well made.
Stiff uppers for solid ankle support and a very comfortable arch support.
Within a month of getting these, one of the top lace attachments pulled free.
Today when lacing them up the cheap loop of fabric used as a lace grommet tore off the shoe - leaving a hole.
Price
This is an excellent boot for the money.
I got a great price of $72, which also factored into the decision to choose these over other options
Packaging/appearance
The color didn't really look the same in person as it did in the photo.
Competitiveness
Hiked around in them for better part of a week- very comfortable, as i have always found merrill’s to be, and were actually wat... Read More
After trying 6 different brands to replace my 20 year old vasquez boots, i finally settled on these.
However, merrel cut cost on the laces versus previous boots.
They're ok now, but i prefer the fit of my columbia boots better.
