Warmth
Customers rave about the excellent warmth provided by these Merrell hiking crew socks made of merino wool. They are thick, perfect for ankle high boots, and highly effective in keeping feet warm during colder conditions. Some customers have shared their skepticism towards cold weather specific socks but were pleasantly surprised by the comfort and quality of these socks.
Comfort
Customers rave about the comfort of Merrell's heavyweight merino wool hiking crew socks, praising their softness, plushness, and warmth. Some note that they are thicker than other socks but still breathable for warmer weather conditions. A few customers mention a tight top band, but overall, these socks receive high praise for their performance and comfort in cold weather hikes.
Highlights
Quality
With the high-quality merino wool fabric and the perfect fit, these socks are sure to deliver the performance and comfort you need.
These are really nice quality, warm hiking socks.
My feet sweat with most socks that i have purchased in the past.
Merrell’s heavyweight hiker sock is manufactured in china from 57% acrylic, 21% marino wool, 20% nylon, and 1% spandex blended fabric.
Price
I think they’re a little pricey for socks.
The only issue here is the pricing seems a bit high considering the low content of merino wool and high content of inexpensive acrylic.
Competitiveness
It’s not as good as my 60+% merino socks from the aforementioned brands, but better than plain cotton or pure synthetics.
For comparison, icebreaker sock sizes cover 4 half sizes, darn tough socks cover 4-5 half sizes, and smartwool covers 6.
