Pros & Cons
Pros
These speakers are fantastic. They are in the same price range as the latest bose companion model.
For 4 inch speakers, these are the clearest sounding speakers i've heard. This speaker has good volume and helps with movie dialoge with my surround system. The sound is warm and slightly boomy with some tv shows.
A good improvement for a great price. Can’t beat the price. The centre channel is a huge improvement keeping the cost in mind, especially in canada where these are almost double the american price.
Two 4 inch midrange woofers and a 3/4 inch silk dome tweeter. The bass is weak out of the box, but this can be ajusted with an equilizer (i use the musicbee app on my computer) it is pleasing to the ear, but if you require a bassy sound you may want t... Read More
Micca mb42 speakers are powered via a lepy lp-2020a 20 watt rms mini amp. Speakers can be paired with a pre-amp or small/headphone-style amp and still no distortion or background hissing of any kind. Only minor issue is that there is no way to conveni... Read More
Cons
These is no warmth to them, they are overly bright with no mid or lows. Slightly damaged with some dodgy gluing around the woofers. Even with the speakers angled directly to you it sounds like the speakers are on the side or the cabinet.
Highlights
Quality
The sound quality that this small speaker brings out is quite remarkable.
These sound good and are easy to install.
These are not flashy (pro or con depending on your view).
Tried the ones from same company with 2x 3'" mids and one tweeter and they are not even close to these in sound quality, muddy and mushy.
Price
This is a great value at an extremely affordable price.
Considering the price these are great value.
Do not pay more than the official canadian micca rep price of $65.

Competitiveness
The size of these speakers is perfect for this application and the sound of this setup is infinitely better than any sub $1000 soundbar.
That's all pretty remarkable given they are in the same price range as the latest bose companion model and those come nowhere c... Read More
These do not have brand recognition and may not compare to a pair of $1000 audiophile speakers.
A comparable sony is close to $200.
