Pros & Cons
Pros
The touchpad on the keyboard is very handy. It's smaller than a normal touchpad, but with a little practice i've learned how to quickly flick the cursor across the screen. Mainly bought this for my living room vista htpc.
Both the mouse and the keyboard have about a half second reconnecting period when you start using them after inactivity, presumably to save battery. It comes with alkaline for the keyboard and a pretty good energizer ni-mh rechargeable for the mouse. ... Read More
The mouse is very precise and rechargeable. The scroll wheel has the smooth gliding feel that is standard on most microsoft mice. The mouse works well and its included charger is nice.
The keyboard is easy to type on. Lag is only noticeable in fast-paced games.
Too sad that it is discontinued. Have been using it since february 2007. Also, photos don't do it justice; this thing looks and feels great.
Cons
On this design, the mouse is completely symmetrical.
The layout is just too unusual, especially the keys that aren't even keys anymore but touch sensitive creases above the real keyboard. What a great keyboard, zero longevity.

I think it has gotten more responsive over time, especially with the tap to enter function.
Microsoft has had problems in production and deadlines about this product.
My wrists are flat with the desk and the keyboard.
Price

Packaging/appearance
For ubuntu there was no configuration or software needed, it worked right out of the box.
There is no lag from keypress to displaying the letter on the screen - i type around 155wpm sustained (mavis beacon.
It's smaller than a normal touchpad, but with a little practice i've learned how to quickly "flick" the cursor across the screen.
Competitiveness
I was looking for a replacment and this fit the bill perfectly.
I use the keyboard/mouse about 20ft away.
If you're super sensative to the ergonomic keyboards and don't like regular keyboards, avoid this.
The keyboard actually comes with standard batteries and not recharables, but i'm sure it would work with rechargable batteries.
