My casserole dishes don't have lids, so if i were to put anything in the top compartment it would just mash the carrier into my casserole.

I had a hard case i put foil casserole pans in then i put that into a thermal insulated grocery bag but this bag is like 4 in one

There is a sturdy cloth handle on top but practically speaking you will probably want to hold it from the bottom to stabilize the food inside especially if the contents are heavy
