Now skip to the neurosciences there seems to be an initially unrelated problem identified by philosopher david chalmers as the hard problem how is that the apparently mindless matter that the brain is composed of is able to produce consciousness subjective experience free will emotions etc

I dont want to give away too much of stapps ideas in this book but be prepared for a dizzying trawl through quantum mechanics the history of science philosophy and ethical theory that may well change the way you view life it certainly has done for some people i know
