Pros & Cons
Pros
It gives so much more insight into what was going on that we didn't know. The trouble with building a world is you have to give the reader enough knowledge to understand what is happening but still retain enough mystery to keep the reader engaged.
Brandon sanderson writes to strategically and intentionally enlighten the reader on a grand scale. It is an entertaining story that helps to expand and broaden both the story of mistborn and the meta-story of the entire cosmere.
Kelsier is dead, yet he watches everything unfold. Giving him the chance to come back and get resurrected by spook feels like a deus ex machina right now.
Cons
A prequel/sequel with a few good scenes wrapped up in a bunch of deadly dull mumbo jumbo. But in the end, this book uncomfortably reminds me of the ridley scott film prometheus. It exists purely to tie up loose strings in sanderson's epic cosmere.

This is because this book plugs a few minor holes in the plot but to really understand it you really should remember the details of the main story
