Pros & Cons
Cons
Parmigiano reggiano comes only from italy and is highly regulated, aged minimum 24+ months sheep's milk! It must be removed from amazon/whole foods website(s) at once. Flavor mediocre and went bad after only a month.
Highlights
Quality
Makes the canned and bottled parmesans taste stale and a waste of money.
This blows it out of the water.
It's easy to confuse the two, both being hard italian cheeses of similar color and usually served grated or shaved.
If there is no dpo mark, all bets are off as to the type of milk and its treatment.
Price
This is extremely well-priced and really makes my food sing.
The only problem for me is price, which obviously, has not stopped me from continuing to buy it.
Packaging/appearance
Good packaging for maintain it's great flavor/freshness.
I like the taste of this parmigiano cheese over the pre-packaged ones.
Competitiveness
Noticably better than you can get from fresh direct, fairway, or any other large market.
