It took me 2 months to be able to nail a baserunner at home from the outfield.
Competitiveness
I've played this game intermittently, from 2009-12 and 2016, so i don't play every year.
Granted, this is with using wilson ramos as a catcher, but he shouldn't suck this bad at throwing guys out.

The downsides as a batter are that the connection between what you actually do which is pick out the good pitches and swing at the right time seem too often distant from the results you obtain

The problem is that they mix what you see and control on the screen with another invisible dimension that impacts on the result

It also seems that as you play and apparently progress throughout your hitting career at the set veteran level the game itself is getting more difficult

With batting you can make an argument that a second dimension should impact just because you swing at the right time doesnt mean you swung at the right place that would be where a contact dimension would come in

Unrelated to this complaint the controls for base running suck so you better ease up on the joystick way before you reach the next base unless you want to run uncontrollably 13 of the way to the next base
