Pros & Cons
Pros
Tub and tile refinishing kit from moen. The new diverter is great after having spent years listening to the loud noise and watching the water running through the spout while the shower is on. Looks great with my other chrom fixtures as well.
When you tighten the hex nut, it actually tightens a semi circle wedge up onto the copper pipe. Slip fit, easy install, no problem.
Cons
Missing 5/32 hex wrench and the clamp screw. Appears to be an old part. The shower head is the only thing that survived. The valve trim kit and tub spout went out around the same time.
Highlights
Quality
Appears well built, study and long lasting.
The way it holds onto the pipe is sturdier and uses an allen screw which makes it easier to snug up.
I ordered this after installing a “universal” spout that was made with plastic parts and leaked behind the wall.
I tried replacing an old moen spout that was installed along with the house when it was built back in 1996, thanks to the diver... Read More
Price
A great product for a good price.
Worth the extra money for how simple it was.
There is no reason this part should cost so much.
I was so afraid i was going to have to spend $$$ on a plumber and almost gave up.
Shipping
Ordered it on amazon because no plumbing supply had it in stock.
And it was very efficient because i got the new one the day after.
Packaging/appearance
Wish i didn’t throw out the packaging for that one.
Competitiveness
Much better than moen's plastic version or off-brand versions made by third-party companies.
Nothing compares to a real brand name.
Just spend a few more dollars on this than the cheap universal ones and get a much better product.
Of course, its price is close to double of more common brands but you do get what you have paid for.

I tried replacing an old moen spout that was installed along with the house when it was built back in 1996 thanks to the diverter having gone bad a long time ago and making a horrible squealing noise during showers if anybody turned any other water on and sometimes even when they didnt

I had used an aftermarket 34universal34 part from home depot which had an overly complicated multiple part adapter to get it to go onto the smooth slipon copper pipe but that one was needlessly difficult didnt form a seal leaked all over the place very badly and then just about ruined the copper pipe when i was trying to take it back off

I gave up on that and went with the real moen which was more or less the same as the original part just a slight step up in attractiveness

This one installed with no trouble whatsoever and apart from a very slight leakage most likely caused by the damage from the universal one it left grooves in the copper that i couldnt completely sand out its working well
