The collar goes around the shower spigot pipe. Used in our bathroom remodel. Fit & finish is a perfect match.

It looks more like chrome than brushed nickel. The description leads you believe it is metal and matching the similarly-priced metal shower arm. Was a cheap piece of plastic not brushed nickel.
