The grab bar is securely fastened directly to the two studs. The mounting plates come with donut covers as you can see in the photo. Supplied bolts attach securely to bathtub wall stud.

Cons

It is impossible to fit the cheap flanges, which are made without set screws; rather with dimples. Use care, and a very long narrow bit. The whole point of the 32” length is to secure with screws directly into studs.
