The case is lightweight and slim. The magnetic closure works great for waking/sleeping the device. I only wish it had the magnet to hold the flap on the back when in use.

It is a hard plastic and the front cover is textured

The old and new cases work the same so the only difference is a rough surface on the old case versus a smooth surface on the new case
