Only the pieces for the remotes are soft silicone. The rest is just thin hard plastic. The remote is made of soft silicone, the remote is not.

I have to say i am very impressed with the build quality.
The only thing i dislike is that you have to take the cases off the controls to use with the hand held controller you get with the switch.
Idk why people on here claim it doesn’t fit in the dock with the case on, as you can see by my picture, it does.
I used the screen protector, that came with the cases, on the pink/purple one.

I dropped the switch on a carpet while the case was on and it popped off one of the joy cons

Biggest downside you have to remove the case if you want to put the side controllers into the controller case when docking
