Pros & Cons
Pros
The sound of my entry level system is now rich and fills the room. The frequency response is not a lie. With cross over down on the lower end and volume at around 70-75% it sounds really good.
The sp-bs22-lr is the largest and most powerful flat subwoofer on the market. When adjusted properly it gives my audio set up the exact solidification and embodiment i was searching for. Good natural bass for the size of the unit.
Fits well under ottoman for sofa, enough room to have x2 legs on furniture lifters. Easily hung on the back wall of a cabinet without taking up much room. For < $200 and a slim profile that fits up against a wall under your tv.
Materials used are really sturdy and just flat out clean, it’s heat sync keeps it running super cool and efficient, even with continuous use over multiple hours. The 10inch is amazing. Also amazing and just right for a 12ft away distance. Very nice ad... Read More
Cons
I get louder and lower frequency output from my front main speakers, which sort of defeats the purpose. That's equivalent to using an amplifier of twice the power in watts.

And honestly i only have run this unit at about 1/4 volume (running in a bedroom of a 2 bedroom apt with wood for construction.
Price
For the price i recommend this highly.
This sub is a great value for the money.
But for < $200 and a slim profile that fits up against a wall under your tv, it is hard to beat.
Sound is boomy but what do ya expect on a low priced sw.
Shipping
Good shipping time great product arrived as advertised
Packaging/appearance
Much better looking than a standard box.
This thing packs a pretty significant punch.
No bulky big box to find a place where it doesn't stand out.
Competitiveness
Much better than the elac, definitive tech, klipsch and sony i tried for much higher cost.
Surprisingly, i found the monoprice ssw-8 had a deeper, tighter base and more musical than the pioneer.
I bought this direct from monoprice to combine with my current 10 inch sub in an attempt to smooth out room response issues.
