Pros & Cons
Pros
The sound quality is very good for the price and the setup was mostly spot on. The workmanship is excellent, which is much appreciated. It sounds okay, and is very sturdy.
Neck and neck pocketneck has a light satin finish on the back and the spec says it is maple. The body cavity is a swimming pool style and has ample depth.
No fret sprout,no blemishes with intonation spot on. The fret ends stick out a bit and need to be sanded down as of now, easy fix according to youtube videos.
They are pretty smooth when tuning considering how cheap they are. Always replace with new strings & buy a string stretcher to ensure in tune stability.
Cons
Not customized as advertised. Frets were left totally unfinished. Great guitar to hang on a wall but unless you enjoy playing a guitar that is out of tune with itself look elsewhere. Not repairable by most consumers.
Highlights
Quality
Very excited to start teaching him on a quality instrument.
The two most important parts of an instrument like this are build quality and sound.
Electronicsstandard stuff you'd find on a low end squier - electronic switch, 3x 250 kohm short shaft mini pots, 0.
Frets aren't sharp; didn't have to do any filing (others seem to have more issies).
Price
It's amazing how they can make a guitar this good for this low of a price.
A great guitar at low price range.
It would even be worth taking it to luthier for $100 or so to have it all done.
In looking even at used guitars, i was seeing prices at $400 and up.

I almost left out the packing, heavy box taped all around with the guitar in the padded case.
Inside, it was wrapped in a pretty decent, although unpadded, gig bag.
Competitiveness
Surprisingly, i find myself picking it up and playing it more frequently than some of my expensive axes.
I also have a monoprice acousti electric guitar and it is a great quality instrument too.
Monoprice has stuck mostly to fender/squier specs on their parts and that means that the modding options are endless.
It's hard to beat what you get for the money with monoprice guitars.

Specs arent exactly like a strat so slight modifications will have to be made if changing pickguards and the cavity is a bit tight if using full size pots
