Motorola will give you a bootloader unlock code for this phone through the motorola website

If you unlock the bootloader you will see a brief warning screen each time you startup the phone attesting to the fact that the bootloader has been unlocked

Secondly transferring data from old phone to this new phone using google backup went well without a hitch
