    Either way once broken it gets permanently lodged and you may need a needle nose pliers to undo the remains of the gas cap from your cars gas tank

    If your old gas cap did not throw check engine light i strongly suggest you keep the old rubber oring from the old gas cap as an insurance for few months against situation if the new one does not make a perfect seal then you could swap out the rubber orings
