Pros & Cons
Pros
Mountain house is now partnered with terracycle. The pkgs stand alone and all you need is water and a fork. Open and stir.
This one has a tangy buffalo seasoning to the mac and cheese. The chicken & dumplings is a close second. Usual mountain house quality.
The entire pouch is 580 calories and is filling. This item is great because it contains 6 pouches that are suitable for 2 meals. The recommended serving size is large enough to fill me completely.
Very portable and shelf stable as well. But sturdy too so do not seem to have to worry about leaks or spills. No scary chemicals or fillers and these have a shelf life somewhere into the year 2050! It's great at the end of a long hike carrying a heavy... Read More
The buffalo sauce flavoring isn't too strong, and compliments the noodles well. It cooks up with tender chicken chunks, firm not mushy noodles and a creamy cheesy buffalo sauce that had a nice zippy bit of heat to it! Only complaint is that i can’t co... Read More
Cons
The pouches are heavy and difficult to dispose of while out in the wilderness. The taste is forgettable. Of the bags were not glued at top and was spilled out in shipping box.
Highlights
Quality
Truly the quality and flavor were more than i was expecting.
Nothing wrong with the product and this is perfect for the winter and for people who love spicy food.
I wasn't as impressed with the chicken fried rice.
This is about 5 minutes over the suggested time but my experience with the last one told me i needed to do this.
Price
The biggest drawback with this is the price.
I've purchased these meals before and never paid more than $10 for one so the price seems a little on the high side.
Shipping
Was a good fast meal, although the water used was not quite hot enough and took longer for the noodles to soften up.
Packaging/appearance
The packaging makes it easy to cook meals right in the bag - so less mess.
(took my ~10 min to bring water to boil and maintain, then another 10 for this to rehydrate in the bag) - good packaging - the ... Read More

Competitiveness
Recently went on a 3day backpacking trip, so ate alot of these.
Mountain house meals are a perfect addition to our prepper stash for emergencies.
Cut off the top of the package above the built in ziplock seal.
I'm not a prepper by any stretch but i think a small emergency kit for a family is reasonable.
