It doesnt prevent you from putting something in the side pocket but it makes working a bottle in trying to find the edge of the pocket very irritating

The back zippered pocket is relatively useless

Ill likely sew some fabric loops on the outer edge run some elastic rope and strap a light jacket across the back and ignore the pocket altogether
