It arrived charged took it out of the box, and stuck it on phone and it worked through my casei have the iphone 12 pro max
There is a metal ring include in the package, but i've not had good luck getting those attached in the exact place for easy charging.

The efficiency of the wireless charging is somewhat variable because it depends on your cell phone case if you have one

The magnetic hold is more than sufficient unless your case gives you a gap between the case and the battery the magnetic ring is flush with the case instead of having a raised ring so if you use cases with raised lips you may get a gap that reduces charging efficiency and holding torque
