Pros & Cons
Pros
Msi b660m mortar wi-fi ddr4 motherboard is a solid choice and a very well made product. Plenty of usb ports a type c usb on the back and another on the front panel. Built wifi + bluetooth too. One gripe is speed at which it takes for the ethernet port... Read More
Msi mortar has a 6 layer pcb, and it makes for a very solid, flex free feel to the board. The stylized metal covers which initially appear decorative offer a secure handhold. If u want a solid board that’s very budget friendly but gives you bang for b... Read More
The bios is super easy to navigate. Installation is easy and the provided manual makes building even easier. Booted up first time with no issues.
If you want to truly overclock your cpu, a z690 motherboard is a must, but they aren't readily available in the microatx form factor. It makes better framerates and more smooth playing. I'm not an overclocker but the xmp was pretty simple to set up.
Great expand-ability, plenty of usb ports, fast lan connection. The product also looks very aesthetically pleasing with the right amount of raw tech with some sleek plastic pieces to make it look nice. I'm thankful it doesn't have a ton of rgb.
Cons
Spent 9 hours painstakingly diagnosing the issue and just could not find the problem. I'm sure we just got a faulty one. The worst part is that my bazooka refused to boot with 2 ram sticks.
Highlights
Quality
I loved how it shipped and was overall really satisfied with the product.
I noticed that the quality of the material was really nice and although i handled it carefully, i was never afraid of breaking something.
Otherwise for a budget motherboard with the ability to put a hard hard drive to its os.
No cpu overclocking with the b660 chipset, however this motherboard does allow you to adjust the turbo limits and voltages.
Price
And if you can find it on sale like i did, the price isn't even an issue--this was well worth every cent of the $145 i paid.
Has everything i need at a reasonable price.
Packaging/appearance
Excellent value/price/quality only problem is that out of the box the ethernet/wifi wasn't working and i had to download the dr... Read More
Competitiveness
I believe if you are upgrading to a 12th gen intel this is honestly the best matx board on the market!
I paired it with a i5-12400, msi gaming trio z 3070, 32gb ram, and a 1tb nvme.
Skill ddr4 3200 memory, a 1tb crucial p5 nvme ssd, a corsair rm750 power supply all housed inside a fractal design meshify 2 compact case.
I purchased this board with an intel 12th gen cpu.
