There should be some kind of clamp to hold it together. The * on the syringe is about 1 quarter inch. Didn't get the 7 pieces, just the plunger.

The included pretty high quality dredge brush worked great to clean out the crap that had accumulated in the drain over the last 3 yrs.
It still took a good 2hrs to get it all defrosted and cleaned out.
