In reality the small in this case white adapter is not an adapter

It is a 34 pipe nipple with tapered threads on both ends

Garden hose has straight threads allowing a fitting thread all the way down and seal on the rubber washer

While a garden hose will thread on to this it will jam on the taper before it seats on the rubber washer

My one gripe with this faucet is that it sticks out pretty far from the outer barrel wall due to its design
