Pros & Cons
Pros
There is no awkward lip where the lid sits. The lid helps them to understand the spilling and learning careful tipping, but isn't leak proof like a sippy cup is. There's a hole, much like an insulated coffee mug, where the liquid comes out.
Cons

This is a great cup to use to transition away from the 360 lipped cups or other sippy cups.
There's a hole, much like an insulated coffee mug, where the liquid comes out.
However, the lid stays on nicely and the cup is small enough for small hands to hold it securely while practicing open cup drinking.
