You still have bright light but its not harsh

Its not really suitable for a retrofit unless you intend to surface mount these using the spring clips provided with the channel

The neatest look is achieved by pressing the channels flush into a groove and closing the channel with the cover

Surface mounting clips are included but imo that invalidates the entire reason for getting embedded track like this

This track is so deep that you need to make sure that you won’t compromise the structural integrity of the shelf or whatever you are mounting it into
