Pros

Card seems well built so we will see how it lasts under constant home media server load. Comes with 8 sata cables that have locking clips on both ends.

Raid 0 nearly doubles the sata iii disk access, needed now that i have a 32gb 6200 ddr5 ram. Os recognizes the drives not different that drives connected to the mobo. Works with unraid out of the box!

After installing the driver, all 8 drives are recognized correctly. Go into device manager and under sata controllers right click standard sata controller and click update driver.

Cons

Hdd. This is nowhere close to 6gb/s. After installing card and adding disks, they are not recognized by freenas. It works but if you plan on using more than 3 or 4 sata ports, it won't work well.

Search for a github post with prevent-host-driver-in-pci-pass. Lspci -vv shows an asm entry but not marvell chipset. The bios splash screen never shows. Only way to get to bios is to remove card and reboot.

Truly plug n play and great price.

You can get your hands on used 1 or 2 tb 7200 hdds now for super cheap and also used ssd's.
