Pros & Cons
Pros
It does the job of repurposing old nvme drives. It's a nice pcie card and works perfect for extra nvme/ssd.
At pcie 3. You get transfer speeds to spec. Will keep pcie adapter to maybe use on something else. If your only available slot is an x1 slot, then this is the adaptor for you.
Simple plug and play, no issues, and decent speeds. No compatibility issues or other problems with the process. Aside from the antenna problem, this card works great.
Bought this, and a compatible m. Also installed a pny m. Needed to add another m. Will most iikely get another expansion card and m.
Cons
Device headline states it is x4, is actually x1. The sata 15pin was clearly broken. It reaches the acer logo screen and freezes there.
Highlights
Quality
Simple plug and play, no issues, and decent speeds.
It's solid, well-built, easy to set up, and i'm even able to boot from it.
Update: plugged my quest 2 and official battery strap into it and this guy fried both of them immediately, definitely don’t use it for that
2 memory but no dedicated slots nor does the mb support bifurcation, only pcie 1x slots.
Price
Was a low cost easy way to add an nvme slot to a pc without a built-in port.
This is a good card for bumping up your speed from a sata 6gb/s to a cheap nvme like the samsung 980 for $109 right now 2/22/2022 .
It was cheaper than buying the usb coral.
They do show as removable drives in the eject menu, but much cheaper than a board with enough sata.
Shipping
It shipped promptly and was received in good order.
The expansion card came on time but did not come with instructions.
Packaging/appearance
Is now in the new box but for temporary use thus rocked.
Competitiveness
There i have the best card from startech.
These prices only go down, but as ssd's get more functional at the $100 price point, we are going to see more interest as the 9... Read More
It gets around 400mb/s although the nvme is a samsung and rated much higher.
