Quality
Good value, build quality is good, works well and travels well for about a year now.
I tried in with usb-c on my macbook and with the two other ones with a pc.
But for big files, i'd suggest investing in a better product.
Packaging/appearance
Only minor complaint is there is no sign of which way to put in the cards (trial & err each time).
I could see how extending the micro-usb connection would be annoying if used regularly.
Competitiveness
This otb reader allows me to do just that (tested with oneplus 5).
Love the 3 options (usb, microusb, type c).

It did connect but the connection was so weak that the slightest movement would disconnect everything and possibly corrupt data

As a result i had to remove the case each and every time i want to transfer files from the sd card to my phone

I bought this card reader so i could transfer pictures off my cameras sd card and onto my amazon fire

You may have to take off your phone case for this fully insert into your phone but thats not an issue at all if your case is easy to remove
