It is * to resell a recalled consumer product. The manufacturer warranty requires the purchaser to return the failed product at a cost of $13. call the cpsc recall (800) 638-2772.
The instructions say potatoes cut to 3/8 should dry well within 12 hours and its not necessary to rotate trays. The machine has no see-thru capability and therefore, no way to discern how well the drying process is coming along.

One note if youre drying cooked rice to bring with you on a backpacking trip or something it does create a lot of moisture and water underneath the unit during the first half hour or so
