I love espresso (italian-american) but didn't wanna shell out a grand or more. Great little machine and makes a decent shot of espresso or americano. I certainly hope it lasts me a good long time.

It gives a great foam and makes a tasty espresso. It is user-friendly and looks somehow more like a coffee machine than the breville version which is more sleek. The machine allows for a real creme feel.

Cons

The machine has a problem with not seating the pod properly so that it is crushed and does not produce coffee half of the time. It smashes the pods so you can't use them and doesn't make coffee. Crushes them and no coffee.

If using a larger mug, the spout often is not quite far enough out so drips occur. It just gurgles and little or no water dribbles out.

Overall if i were to recommend one version over the other, i would say go with the breville.

For my taste, i've been very pleased with the nespresso brand and peet's brand capsules, and will never buy plastic ones again.

At home i do use a generic frother and the combination is divine.

Uses the original nepresso pods which must be purchased.

De'longhi: also compact, but slightly larger than the breville version.
