Love this thermostat, yes its way more expensive, but its a one time expense and if you dont want a typical thermostat, its amazing.
Being able to adjust the temperature of my house being over 200 kms to save money is fantastic.
I wouldn't expect this product to pay of any time soon but it is a fun gadget.
Tells you if, when you adjust the thermostat, you cost your self more money.

When seasons change it wont remember how you had the heat set last winter or how you set the ac last summer

You need to reprogram the schedules more manually this time all over again

It doesnt account for outside temperatures so it doesnt handle spring fall transitions well either as it gets cooler outside and you start running a furnace youll start low and eventually spend the 1520 minutes to just reprogram the thing once temperatures bottom out

Home away works well and eco mode makes it a bit easier when it comes time to run the furnace or ac less but it isnt yet the 34learning thermostat34 the world needs

I do not know whether it is the nest or my wireless router but the connection drops off every few days and i have to reconnect it by resetting the connection through the nest settings menu item

If i am away for a few weeks and the communication link drops between the nest and the router i would not be able to change the temperature on the nest remotely which is why i bought this thermostat for
