Immediately boot it into safe mode (hold down power button until second beep)attached controller via usb lead to console.
Installed in ps5 - didn't pick it up until the third attempt of removing and reinserting into drive slot.

I bought one a few days ago and it wouldnt fit in but i think i had one with a heatsink that was too close to the pins because the end covered up the hole for the screw slightly and wouldnt screw in at all

Scroll down to reset cache option and do so
