Pros & Cons
Pros
Jgs524 24 port unmanaged rack mount switch. Works so well that i do not use the router ports except one. Of course that is fine when hooking a pc to it as you can always check your link speed in windows.
Netgear is still the dark blue color it has always been (for the unmanaged version) the internal boards have a processor with a generous heatsink and use all smd type devices. The web interface is a bit clunky, but works.
Cons
The design of this thing is for ease of installation [in virtually anywhere mounting] yet it is not designed for those areas! Be cautious when purchasing this item. Waste of time, money and misery this false advertising. Pretty disappointing given the... Read More
Troubleshooting with isp, calling router manufacturer and electricians, testing ports. The mtu (maximum transmit unit) is fixed and no way to change it. The software to manage it is a bit outdated, and wont get the latest and greatest.
No snmp support for a purported managed switch. Was not possible to register this product in my netgear account. They will trick youvinto registering it and do absolutly nothing to fix the issuie. Due to your product being purchased from an unauthoriz... Read More
This come with frimware that is not existing or. Seriously, why is this so bloated? No manual. No box. Looks to be repacked.

I've had the gs-108 devices the longest, none have ever burned out, nor stopped working.
Price
Worth the extra ten bucks over the unmanaged.
I paid a few dollars more and got the metal one with lifetime warranty.
If you need a reliable and affordable switch to expand your home or small office network, this is a great choice!
Probably a bit overkill to order the 8-port gs108ev3 instead of the 5-port, but the price difference wasn't significant and i l... Read More
Shipping
It's only good for the vermware version it's shipped with.
