Pros

The rax20 is a powerful router that can act as either a router or extender. This device reduces the stress on your modem if you happen to have those modem/wireless router combos while giving a better connection.

Easy to setup and easy to use. Security features are effective. Usb port is a great feature to have as it doesn't come with every router.

App is intuitive and easy to navigate. The internal gui is very nice and also very easy to use and understand.

The rax 20 has a quad 1. Ghz core with ram and flash being the same in all the netgear rax routers. It can be used on the ghz or 5ghz band, or both.

Cons

Internet keeps getting disconnected once the number of devices grow over 8-10 esp 5g. The main issue is the device will reboot randomly multiple times during the day. It has to be reset and the setup done all over again.

The only positive i can say about this router is that range and signal strength were top notch. The unstable firmware before crashing makes this product a no-go for the “access point’ use case.

Netgear product is junk, the warranty is useless and then they try to upsell you on top of this. Never again with netgear products given their absolute disdain for their customers. still junk.

Easy detection and great performance so far.

The screen went dark and i touched it in confusion which started a 30 day trial of their security product.

Most of those antennas are probably not even connected.

Price

For$99 i am super happy with it.

For my tiny place and modest internet speed i could have gotten by without wifi 6 and speed, but for the price i am very happy.

Unfortunately, to get this cheap i selected an amazon open box.

All for a cyber monday price of 45.

Got it within the time frame and the setup is pretty straight forward with the nighthawk app.

At the time if purchase, the seller described the power adapter volage as 100-240 volts, but when i received it, it was only 100-120v.

The amazon devices took long calls to amazon support and i finally figured it out, myself.

Packaging/appearance

That box was opened and the unit serial# registered with netgear, so i don't get the measely/limited support.

Competitiveness

The added bonus is that it provides a stronger signal than the older router.

The app told me it was doing scan after scan and that it is a dangerous world and that i'd better sign up.

It did switch from channel 8 to 1 as the signal diminished or as i got closer to neighbor's routers.

I'm comparing this with an older more expensive model (the 500 one for gaming) and can't decide.
