Pros & Cons
Pros
Switching tab aside, settings are clear and concise.
Well built sturdy all metal casing. Sturdy metal casing, feels solid. I find myself running a fan on this because it gets toasty.
As with most other desk switches, this one's plug and play. Control is easy, mounting is easy. The website for managing the switch is very well designed and easy to use. The only downside is that there is only one outlet.
Switch does great powering my ip security cameras with no downtime. Both power and network connectivity is great.
The gs316epp has an astounding budget of 231watts which works out to about 16w per port. Power cord has a big block transformer, which is a drag, but is also a sign that it was properly designed. Perfect size to carry along in a backpack.
Cons
The configuration software is terrible. Yes, the * netgear switch discovery app wakes it up, but, only if you are on ethernet. The product is 100% incapable of responding to dhcp lease expirations.

99 and given the 123w think its a great price to value.
Management- the fact that its actually manageable at this price.
The other thing that costs this a half star is the ridiculous external power supply.
Update: i liked the 5 port so much and was hoping it would come back on sale but saw the 8 port for $79.

This poe switch had all the same specs as the "hi-end name brand" one for only 1/10th the price.
