Pros & Cons
Pros
Good router for small hone network. The 1200ac works fine for us. Ethernet.
Control * on the back include a wps button (for quick pairing), a wifi on/off button (so you can control when the wifi radio signals will be active in your house), a usb 2 port (for connecting a network-accessible drive), 4 ethernet ports. Has 4gp lan... Read More
Cons
It stops forwarding dns requests. It causes starcraft ii serious disconnect issues. If it goes out after this update i will try switching to google's public dns servers.
This router is nearly useless for wifi unless you are in the same room. The only way i can get my printer to work (print wirelessly from any other device) is to hook up printer to the router via a usb port.
Horrid router. Go elsewhere. Third party seller beware.
Shipped by amazon does not mean that the reseller is authorized. No tech support from netgear at all. Any requests to support simply result in we don't have an eta.
Doing a hard reset still didn't help either so. Tried resetting back to default.
Highlights
Quality
Good tool support for setup and monitoring.
It was easy to install, works great!
Bought this to supplement our att unit but turns out this little powerhouse blew it away!
Due to our dsl connection with our lousy dsl modem/router, i had to cascade this netgear router as a secondary router on our network.
Price
The internet speed is running 5 times faster than i paid for.
For the price the range is pretty good.
But for the price, the size, the fact that it boots quickly, and it has only 2 antenna (one of my criteria), it is an amazing device.
Packaging/appearance
In the box, you get the router, a power transformer + cord, and an ethernet cord.
Competitiveness
Amazingly, this has better wireless throughput that a dedicated cisco wireless access point i use in my home.
The range is not as even or wide as the routers i use that cost 3-4x as much, with the 5 ghz band requiring being within a coup... Read More
