Pros & Cons
Pros
The netgear orbi offers a dependable mesh network that enables seamless hand-offs. It is crazy expensive for a home wireless setup but it is so much better than everything else i've tried.
The orbi router and satellite system emerges as the unrivalled champion. What's laudable is the orbi system's robust speed. It's a shining example of exceptional tech that marries style with substance.
Cons
The power grid in the south - atlanta isn't the best, honestly. Sadly, having already invested in the product….
Some of the iot devices and wifi laptops refuse to connect. The outdoor unit is set 10 feet from one of the wired orbi units and refuses to connect. The only way to get everything working after any power cycle is to turn everything off, including all ... Read More
They refuse categorically to upgrade our service ticket to a senior advisor. Hilariously, i pay for the security service and when i tried to get support from netgear it blocked their own site!
Support is outsourced. I am not willing to subject my personnel to the frustration of countless hours of waiting for support services to resolve issues. Not to mention a subscription is required to get what is clearly regarded as subpar.
It is incredibly expensive so you would expect it to be intuitive and simple to use. They are tall with a short base which causes them to tip over very easily.
Highlights
Quality
Seems very sturdy and easy to mount on wall and secure satellites safely.
The elevated position seems to enhance the signal distribution, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted gaming and streaming experiences.
The antennas had limited throw, devices would constantly drop.
These satellites are not "self healing" meaning their connection back to the main router unit doesn't always reconnect automatically.
Price
This peace of mind is priceless, especially in a bustling household.
Bottom line, these are expensive but are easy to setup, rock solid connections, and fast as expected.
