Pros & Cons
Pros
Netgear r8000-100nar is perfect for my home and the 6 people that live here. There’s no need to worry about disabling the routing or dhcp functions like you would if you simply added a second wireless router to your network. It is powered by either by... Read More
Wi-fi speeds for single client under windows are rated at 450mbps. Just as fast as being right next to my router or being hardwired with ethernet. Gbe is the best. I do notice a difference in the quickness on my network.
It works splendidly, no hiccups, steady connection. It supports multiple ssid networks with different passwords, which is ideal for our needs.
Games run smooth without stutter or artifacting. I am very happy with the performance once they are booted up. Now my son is happy that it doesn't keep buffering while playing online games.
Ghz and 5ghz bands are excellent, while the 6ghz frequency is fast but has somewhat less reach (as expected, given its short wavelength) ghz and others using 5ghz via two separate ssids. Ghz band for that one.
Cons
The set up process for this is horrendous. This software is unacceptable. The free tier has been eliminated.
The router appears to download its configuration each time it is rebooted. Tried resetting it, nothing. All of my ip cameras and smart light switches are unable to stay connected. Once the dhcp lease needs to be renewed, the device will disconnect. Al... Read More
Ceiling mount does not allow for proper clearance to avoid overheating. The mounting bracket is terrible.
The app you have to use is just substandard and slow to react. While you're using their terrible app, they require you to create an account so they can send you more ads and have a * into your network. They will increase the price at will instead of h... Read More

The set up was sooo fast and easy with several different management options.
Competitiveness
This is considerably faster than the 5ghz or standard wi-fi 6 standards.
The trendnet poe++ 10g power injector does work, and it does successfully duplex at 2.
The worst was ~20mbps about 50ft away one floor up.
On the subsequent waps (connected to lan cables), simply make sure you select the same network name in the initial step.

I found some menu options buried a couple of levels deep but those are likely rarely used

I would have liked some explanation in the user manual that if all the aps are connected via ethernet cable to the switchrouter they automatically will share the same ssid in a mesh network when locally or remotely managed
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
If locally managed you just have to specify the same ssdi for all aps

The user manual explains how to create a wifi based mesh network when all aps arent hardwired but leaves out explanation of a standard mesh network

The wired backend meshing is not described well in the documentation

Carefully select the network name like “cafeaccess”

On the subsequent waps connected to lan cables simply make sure you select the same network name in the initial step

The subsequent waps will then assume the same settings as the first root wap
