Also a lot of hot grease adheres to the bottom so you need to provide an absorbent pad such as a folded paper towel to set it on after holding it over the pan to catch most of the grease

It does smell kind of funky during the first few times of using it but the flavor of the bacon isnt affected and after a few washings the odor is gone

I find that most of the grease drips off if i hold it over the pan while removing the bacon
