It goes on by dabbing the applicator onto the boot

The instructions warn that colour may darken following application and this was thoroughly tested on my light sage green shoes which took on a wet appearance once treated with the nikwax nubuck and suede proof but once this had dried thoroughly about 2 hours later the colour had almost returned to the original

Also if the application isnt very even and too wet then it can lead to tidemarks although you would need to look closely at the shoe to see them
