Having changed the drain in our kitchen double sink to much plunger pressure we ended up with two different looking stoppers and the old one was frequently bypassing and draining the sink

I suspect it might have something to do with the rubber sink mat which touches the top of this plug it might be pushing down on it causing it to leak
