Pros
The two best features are the non-spill pouring, and the removable water tank. The removable water reservoir is handy to use and easy to clean. For the price, i feel like it should have come with the reusable filter.
It's nice when a company designs a product that is consumer friendly and usable. With the programming feature, this machine is a real winner. This is my 3rd ninja coffee maker that i have owned and has definitely become my favorite.
The classic brew or the rich brew setting is very tasty but not too strong. The extra rich brew option is nice to have when you want something stronger. The small batch setting works well.
The self-cleaning function is handy too. The attached coffee spoon is always handy. Bonus is the piping hot coffee.
Cons
The coffee brews way too hot and bitter. I feel this unit was defective and could have caused a fire in our home. I as a customer deserve better.

Competitiveness
It doesn't scorch the coffee at all, which was a worry, as we were used to a thermal carafe without a hotplate.
I would have given it a 5-star if it had came with the permanent filter.
Given how much basic coffee makers are this isn't unreasonably priced.

If you only want 4 cups of coffee then you fill the reservoir to 4 cups otherwise if you fill it full and push the 4 cup option it will brew a full pot which i dislike therefore removing one star

The carafe poured more on the counter than in my cup and the warming plate protective coating burned off and now the metal plate is exposed and rusting

Last feb i tried a different black and decker coffee maker

The carafe on that one also leaked all over the place and it had this stupid dial a cup thing that tended to leave water in the reservoir
