Apparently lenovo software will not accept replacement from third parties but there is a solution that i found on the lenovo forum

All you need to do is to is to remove the battery and unplug the adapter from the computer forcing a shutdown

Press the start key for about 30 seconds put the battery back and plug in the adapter
