If tv mode is of no interest to you then i would say yes but there are a few compromises you should be aware of

If none of that bothers you then i would say get a lite instead of an og model

But there are going to be two points of interest for you first how much effort it takes to transfer save data if you have a “switch online membership” you can use the cloud save data backup to transfer data between consoles easily if you don’t have a membership then you will have to connect both consoles together and transfer the data that way and it is not seamless

There is no way around this but if only one person is using the switch lite then it’s not an issue

Only down side would be the kids cannot share purchases as expected on a family account

I wouldn’t recommend a lite for local multiplayer tabletop play however the screen feels smaller when you’re sitting further away and you need to buy joy cons separately too
