I've had a usb dac by douk audio before and was very happy with it for a few years before reselling it.
I also love that it's 1/4 of the price of the audioquest jitterbug.
I used this in conjunction with my vmoda mic and external dac/amp.
Update:this will limit your dac to 24-bit / 96khz.

No matter what i was getting ground loop back in my base shakers

Whenever the macbook’s headphone output was connected to my external speakers it would emit an annoying electrical interference sound whenever i plugged in something to a powered usb hub at the same time
