Pros & Cons
Pros
I recommend using m3 hex screws with nuts, though the stock screws should also work fine. Works as expected, reduced the temp by a few degrees f. My cpu's idle around 50c. Ambient temp is 30c.
These are outstanding in every aspect mainly being super quiet. Absolutely stupendous. The computer is the quietest i've ever owned by a wide margin.
The nf-r8 redux is a good buy for a good pwm fan at a good price. No frills fan that is reliable. Fast shipping and flawless interaction.
Cons
The solution, per noctua, is to disable fan speed checks in the bios. What a hoax. It doesn't move a considerable amount of air, and does a pretty * poor job of managing pwm speed as magically as they claim.
Highlights
Quality
The build of this fan is great and the material used is nice and solid.
They are of good quality and quiet.
My noise levels, power usage, and temperatures in the computer in question all dropped!
I have never been satisfied with the noise level of my lenovo ideacenter 5 pc i bought 2.
Price
Just what i needed at a price i like.
A traditional cardboard boxwill lower the price tag.
The price wasn't too bad for the quality.
Packaging/appearance
This fan arrived very well packaged (not by amazon but by the manufacturer) in a stylish box with extra mounting screws.
Competitiveness
I tried a competing usb fan/controller/grille combo and the bearing noise was annoying at its lowest speed.
Although noctua doesn't officially support lenovo, they worked.
