Pros & Cons
Pros
This is my 2nd norpro deluxe cherry *, my first one lasted several years before i broke the spring. Outstanding pitter. Well thought out device.
Worked great pitting 20 pounds of sour cherries. Pitted 10 pounds of small cherries from a sour cherry tree. Spouse--who is the designated pitter-- reports he is batting just under 1000.
Cons
Norpro cherry pitter is very poor quality. It seems like the action of pitting put too much pressure on the plastic. The company offers replacement gaskets which i find laughable, because the most durable part of the apparatus is the gasket.

It can loosen and the mechanism comes apart with a bang.
Price
For the price and functionality i am satisfied with the machine.
This design is nice and it was reasonably priced.
Then, since the cherries were on sale the next day, i bought 12 lbs.

Shipping
I bought this item at the same time as a motorcycle battery and unfortunately amazon shipped both in the same box.
With in 12 hours of arrival i pitted about 30lbs of cherries and had them all canned before dinner.
We had a heat wave in our area and the cherries dried up before the pitter arrived.
The pitter is just what i wanted and needed, but the shipping was a joke.
Competitiveness
Faster than our other pitter, easier on the hand.
It is efficient compared to any other cherry pitting method i have tried.
You do have to keep the cherries moving with your finger some times, but it's still waaaay faster than many alternatives!
